Portrait of Robert J. Riganati

I've always loved the creative process. Music, writing, art, business—whatever has my attention at the time. Come up with an idea, figure out how to make it work, and see where it goes.

The Present: A Backpacking Adventure in Europe started with a ten-week solo trip through Europe in 1997. I was twenty-two with a backpack, a Eurorail pass, paper maps, and no plan. It turned into one of the great adventures of my life. Years later, I decided to finally turn my journal, photographs, memories, and stories from that trip into a book.

I started drawing more than a decade ago while searching for a creative outlet other than music. I enjoyed it, kept experimenting, and eventually had enough work that I wanted to put some of it out into the world.

So that's what you'll find here. A book about an adventure I never forgot, and some art I had a good time making.
